RSS Title: The Latest ‘Moving the Bar’ for Obama From: Jack & Jill Politics Well, covering for Senator Straight Talk at every turn on his gaffe’s and missteps, hasn’t exactly helped him in the polling. Helping push the ‘Obama is an Uppity N$*%er’ memo hasn’t done it either. I wear the tinfoil hat, and am not ashamed of it. The MSM has been covering for McCain at every turn, and has tried to find every fault they could with Barack Obama. Because, as others have said, and I agree, it’s in their best interest to make this a horserace, and whatever they have to do in order to get it is what they’ll do. So, after spending the last month covering for McCain and hounding Obama, they wanted the results to fit the narrative they’ve been trying to shape. But, when the latest polls come out, and Obama is still in the same position that he was in a month ago - IN THE LEAD - well, that just won’t do. So, of course, they have to ‘ move the bar’. Anyone Black understands what ‘move the bar’ me Read More... |
Title: Dear Senator Obama From: Jack & Jill Politics Dear Senator Obama, I would like to write you an open letter here of ‘constructive criticism’ from the folks here at JJP. We here at JJP span the range of hardcore supporters to ‘constructive critics’, but never ‘ haters’. The following have been floated around here. 1. Your communications team is LACKING. The response time, let alone the forcefulness of the counterattacks are lukewarm to awful. When someone like Paris Hilton can do an effective slapdown of John McCain and your ads make people go ‘ eh’, something’s not going as well for you as possible. John McCain is a walking ad. Just commercials on his flip-flops and ‘gaffes’, would be enough to take up a sizeable budget. 2. You’re losing the surrogate battle. You are indeed your own best surrogate, but you can’t be everywhere, and you shouldn’t be. You need effective surrogates who will do the verbal smackdown for you. Best ones: McCaskill, Sus Read More... | Afronary.Net |
Title: Usher Re-Hires Mommy As Manager! From: Love Lies And Music
We all knew this was coming. Usher and Benny Medina recently parted ways and Usher has rehired his former manager Jonetta Patton. As I stated in an earlier post Usher was upset with his album sales and blamed it on his management. To be honest the album really isn’t that hot. And that’s management fault? Here’s what Medina had to say:
“With an artist like Usher, the bar is set really high. Whether it was management, marketing or the music, we achieved a number one single and a number one album. It is a completely new day and time in music now. In four years, his audience, demographic, and musical direction has changed. Records like Lil Wayne’s ‘Lollipop’ are the type of phenomena that ‘Yeah’ was in 2004. I had a great time and we parted ways amicably.”
I would love to see Mrs. Raymond and Ms. Patton on the set of an Usher video shoot! Usher * shaking my head * it’ll be ok.

So imagine this. After 30 years at a company, you decide to finally retire. You've been an exemplary worker the entire time, setting new records for employee of the month and whatnot. After waffling about retiring year after year, you finally accept your gold watch, and endure a tear-filled going away lunch at Carrabba's. Everyone wishes you well in your second life. You'll volunteer more. You'll see your grandkids every weekend. You might even figure out how to use a Nintendo Wii.And finally, after 2 months of sitting at home in your draws watching Judge Mathis all day, it hits you: you wanna work again. So, you go back to your old employer and demand your old job back. And they tell you, nicely might I add, that your job has already been given to a younger person and they're moving on. You're thanked again for your years of service and asked, nicely might I add, to leave. Then you pull out an AK-47, shoot a few security guards, and yell out "If I ain't workin' in this mofo, ain't nobod Read More...
With all the attention shifted to another notable Black politician, AB.com's Favorite Bastion Of Negro Ineptitude, Detroit Mayor Clay Davis Kwame Kilpatrick, has been awful quiet in recent weeks. Heck, I've heard more lately about Councilwoman Monica Conyers, who is a piece of work herself.Sure, there were murmurs that his mother would end up losing her seat in Congress because of "Yaw's Boy", but Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick won her re-election the other night by the skin of her teeth. So, rejoice citizens of Michigan! "Yaw's Boy's" mama will live another two years to provide us with such fodder as this. Please watch this entire clip, or you'll miss it, beginning around the 40 second mark.Man, that idd'ish was classic. Classic I tell ya'.And not to be outdone her opponent, Mary Waters, capitalized on this, but couldn't close the deal. So, ya'll stay losin' Detroit. Now you're stuck with two Kilpatricks. Uhhh, make that one. Judge Ronald Giles just sent Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick t Read More...
So while this new joint from Omarion isn’t what I thought it would be…it’s ok. It sounds like same ol’ Omarion. I was expecting a Timbaland BANGA! That it is not. Hope it does well.
Omarion - “Vroom”
Here’s a new joint by Diddy’s homieloverfriend Cassie. I’m not a fan of Cassie at all but there’s something about this song. It’s sexy. I like. I be feeling like this sometimes. Listen. Enjoy. Comment.

It's down to the last 90 days, screeches Brian S. Brown of the National Organization for Marriage (in New Jersey); he has a red alert flooding the inboxes of fundies around the country. The hysteria in this missive is so over-the-top you'd think that a nuclear missile had been launched pointed at California, Arizona and Florida, where marriage amendments are on the ballot in November.Take a deep breath before you click to read what is below the fold. Over the next two days, I have much to share, but the basic message I need to convey this week is simple: The next 90 days will determine the future of marriage in our nation. With now less than 90 days remaining before the November 4 elections, the future of marriage hangs in the balance, not only in California, but in the rest of the nation as well. "[T]he Armageddon of the culture war," is how Chuck Colson referred to the Prop 8 campaign in California. Or as Don Wildmon of the American Family Association explained, if we lose i Read More...
I’ve been warning y’all not to sleep on Oprah. I’ve said for a long time now that Oprah’s endorsement of Obama would have significant impact. Her public influence goes beyond celebrity endorsement to something closer to force of nature. And McCain should worry. Once Obama unleashes the ultimate weapon once more — The Oprah Effect — watch out. But now you don’t have to take my word for it. Someone has actually run the numbers. Courtesy of FiveThirtyEight:
Perhaps the most interesting work I’ve seen in this election is this study (PDF) by University of Maryland economists Craig Garthwaite and Tim Moore, who studied subscriptions to O! (Oprah’s Magazine) and purchasing patterns in books recommended by Oprah’s Book Club to conclude that Oprah Winfrey had a major — and possibly even decisive — impact on the Democratic primaries, netting Barack Obama more than one million votes.
I took a look at the study out of sheer cu Read More...
Are any of you watching Project Runway? It’s my main reality television fix. Despite the fact that Bravo has all but buried the show in light of its defection to Lifetime, this season has emerged as popular. And good! Although Tim Gunn was right — there are no Christian Sirianos or Santino Rices or Jay McCarrolls this season. But the designers are talented and interesting, and I already have a favorite. You probably already guessed if you’ve been watching — Korto Momolu for the win!
To which my husband responds, “you are so predictable.” OK, maybe I’m a little biased. I can’t help that whenever there’s a natural haired woman on TV, my attention immediately turns to her. This season of ProjRun, I love Kelli’s and Terri’s styles, and I agree — Keith is hot. But Korto’s stuff makes me want to go out shopping. Her clothes are right up my alley. And yes, I love her hair. And her eyeshadow is fire. You already kno Read More...
